PETALING
JAYA, Fri: A middle-aged Sarawakian timber
merchant became an instant millionaire after
winning RM4.2 million in the Toto 6D grand
prize, drawn on April 4.
The lucky
winner only came to the Sports Toto Malaysia
Sdn Bhd head office in Kuala Lumpur last
Wednesday, 17 days after the draw, as he was
stranded in a remote Indonesian forest.
"Although
my girlfriend had called me up with the
result, I could not leave my work site at that
time due to the clashes among the Indonesians
there," said the merchant, who declined
to be named.
"I had
to engage eight armed guards to escort me to
the Indonesia-Sarawak border and then made my
way to Kuching last Monday."
In a press
release today, the winner said he had invested
more than RM1,000 on Toto 4D and spent RM42 on
the 6D game number 210380, derived from his
sweetheart's birth date. "I never dreamt
that this investment would bring in a RM4.2
million windfall."
Sports Toto
senior manager (public affairs) Leong Kean
Chong this is so far the biggest pay-out to a
single winner in the 6D game.
