It is expected that close to 15,000 needy old folks of various races aged 60 years and above will benefit from this nationwide charity campaign, which will be held in 42 cities and towns beginning from 24 January until 1 February 2008.

This charity donation is not confined to Chinese recipient only, but also needy old folds from other races.

Announcing the charity campaign over a press conference at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur today, Mr. Vincent Seow, Executive Director of Sports toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd said, Sports Toto has started this annual charity campaign twenty years ago. This traditional and meaningful campaign was one of the charitable events under the “Giving Something Back to Society” annual charity program.

He said, “The number of recipients for this year’s campaign is 500 more than the previous year. Each one of the recipients will receive an ang pow and a mini hamper comprising more than 10 types of foodstuff and essential items.”

He also announced that Dato’ Dr Ng Yen Yen, Deputy Finance Minister had consented to grace the official launching ceremony of this event on 24 January 2008 at Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall KL at 10 a.m.

Vincent Seow added, the company has identified 3 old folks’ homes as beneficiaries of this campaign. Chartered coaches would be used to transport the senior citizens from these 3 homes to the main distribution center at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall.

“As this event has been recognized as a traditional charity event that many needy citizens look forward to when Chinese New Year is around the corner, Sports Toto is certainly committed to continuing with this program,” he said.
